CPC Calculator
Calculate your cost per click (CPC) based on ad spend and clicks.
What is cost per click (CPC)?
Cost per click (CPC) is how much you pay each time someone clicks your ad. It’s a core paid media metric that tells you how expensive it is to drive traffic from channels like Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, and Threads. Lower CPC at the same (or better) traffic quality usually means more efficient media spend.
How to calculate CPC
Cost per click is calculated with a simple formula:
CPC = Total ad spend ÷ Total number of clicks
If you spent $1,000 and generated 500 clicks, your CPC is $2.00. The CPC calculator on this page does the math instantly so you can focus on optimizing your targeting, bids, and creatives.
What is the average CPC?
There’s no single “global” CPC, but recent 2024–2025 benchmark studies give useful ranges:
- Google Ads (search): Across industries, average CPC often lands around $3.00–$5.00+ per click, with some verticals much higher. (cc: Focus Digital)
- Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram): Most traffic campaigns see average CPCs around $0.40–$1.00 across industries. (cc: Hunch Ads)
- Threads Ads: Early data and projections suggest CPMs around $5.00–$10.00, with CPCs broadly in line with other Meta placements – often sub-$1.00–$2.00 depending on objective (cc: MonetizeMore).
- Snapchat Ads: Cost per link click (CPLC) often falls around $0.60–$1.00 in recent benchmarks. (cc: Gupta Media)
- X (Twitter) Ads: CPCs are frequently in the $0.20–$2.00 range, with competitive topics spiking higher. (cc: Marketing LTB)
Industry also matters. For example, Google search CPC in high-intent categories like Attorneys, Dental, Home Improvement, Finance, and Education frequently exceeds $5–$8+ per click, while less competitive sectors pay noticeably less.
What is a good CPC?
A “good” CPC is one that supports profitable CPA and ROAS for your business. In practice, that usually means beating industry averages while hitting your cost-per-acquisition target:
- On Google Search Ads, anything meaningfully below your vertical’s average (e.g., a legal firm paying $6.00 vs. an $8.00–$9.00 benchmark) can be considered strong—assuming conversion rates are healthy.
- On Meta Ads, many 2024–2025 analyses show average CPCs around $0.70–$1.00; consistently landing in the $0.30–$0.70 range with solid conversion rates is typically above average.
- On TikTok & Snapchat, where CPMs are often cheaper, a “good” CPC is usually at the lower end of the platform’s typical range (e.g., $0.30–$0.60 vs. $0.80–$1.50+).
Note: CPC is inherently a paid media metric. For organic performance (SEO, organic social), you’d typically compare CTR, rankings, or effective CPA/ROAS instead of CPC.
